Random Nonsense Straight Out of My Head

Deltarune Chapter 4 thoughts

06-13-2025

Just started this morning and honestly yesterday was quite relaxed. I got to play some Deltarune today and managed to skip a bunch of chapter 3 to get to 4 (Sorry noid -_-) but in all honesty compared to Chapter 2 there isn't really as much direct changes in Chapter 4. However, what little it does do is just as impactful or if not more impactful to the rest of the story than anything in the main campaign. Toby Fox is incredibly good at what making cutscenes which would otherwise be small beans in comparison to raw gameplay. You are essientially left thinking about the rammifications of your actions and that includes the kicking scene which was spectacular and shocking.

Otherwise, besides the Weird Route itself chapter 4 is incredible. The first thing I noticed was the soundtrack itself was taken up a notch. Second Sanctuary is by far my favorite track in this entire chapter. It really shows that the stakes are increasing and things are going to be a hell of alot more serious as the chapters goes on. The story has really ramped up over all and I'm really excited for Chapter 5.

The gameplay was fantastic as per usual with its unique mixture of bullet hell and elements from other games. The new climb mechanic is cool as fuck and adds a whole new layer to the overworld. Hopefully, Toby adds more climbable structures in the later Chapters. Moreso, I hope he adds more to the later chapters and I'm willing to wait for that. (Take your time, Fox)

Back to the story itself, Susie has really developed as the game went on. I really had forgotten that the game takes place in the course of 3 days especially considering how long I've been waiting for Ch3-4. Susie has really been becoming the main character of this adventure, hell I'd say since Chapter 3 really. She's been building herself up while the rest of the fun gang has been either falling apart or busy sabotoging. I've went from being annoyed by her to falling in love with her character. She is the hero of this story. Especially with her and Gerson's relationship, it is sad to realize something that we the player have already known. However, it really does show that she's changed for the better and from here on I hope to see some improvements for the other characters.

Note: I just realized that the Weird Route and Normal Route correlate:

Normal Route: Susie changes for the better.

Weird Route: Noelle changes for the worse.

This could be an even smaller mirror to the vast mirror effect that plagues this game, but I'm not going off on that idea just yet. Just something I'd been thinking about since Chapter 1.

Overall, I'd say Chapter 4 has been the best chapter by far and I hope it keeps getting better as the time goes on.

Speaking of which if you go to deltarune.com/chapter5 its a little bit of a surprise waiting for you over there relating to the Weird Route.

I gotta stop counting days

06-12-2025

I'm not quitting the blog but truly starting a little bit of a new style change. I'm not going to certainly include "Days" such as Day X but rather just include a general title and date with the content I will be blogging about. Otherwise, I am typing about the same junk as I always will RARELY ever type. Anyways let me continue on the subject when I am done installing Debian as I'm currently doing a refresh on my Thinkpad t520.

I should probably consider adding more but I've been too lazy and don't know what to talk about :(

Day 2: Expressing yourself is a pain in the ASS!

08-23-2024

Let's start with one thing: I need to start blogging more and more especially with how hard it is to express oneself in any format on the web. Unfortunately, blogging has died since the last decade and nobody likes reading so I'm stuck here dicking around trying to figure out how to make a blog even remotely appealing. It's truly terrible. Truly. I have to learn *GASP* HTML and CSS. AAAAA.

Keep in mind I'm not the greatest programmer in the world but I am "trying". Simply put the reason I left bearblogs is because of one simple thing... I can't post images!! Like this cool picture of Lain for example:

Otherwise, I'm back to doing what I was usually doing. Typing my opinions in and seeing if they stick in my head or in the public's mind. (If anyone is even reading this.)

Learning was incredibly stressful today. I tried doing so many things all at once. Which was rather stupid of me lmao but it's too late now. I tried making a "video" but I got too stressed out when trying to say what I think.

Damn I was so exhausted that I stopped, fell asleep and now I'm back. Coming up with ideas is hard and I'm not willing to put effort in if it provides nothing for me overall. Off topic but I did find a 1TB HDD for about $20 so its a good steal. Pretty much using it to store all my crappy music. Inveitably I'll either use it to store my music for later or store it on my PS2. I should mod it at some point to include a new quieter fan but I haven't done so yet nor touched my PS2 since I took that SSD off it. Since now I have a hard drive that works with just plugging in I'm all good.

Truly the last thing I will say is that I think I should personally use my paperwhite more since it's just been sitting there for the longest time. Need to keep on my light novels.

Day 1: Confusion

08-22-2024

I honestly have no idea what to put in this thing other than my solid opinions and emotions. Its not gonna be a clear and honest diary or anything. Just general perspective and ideas that I thought up while going through my day to day. It hopefully will allow me to clear up my thoughts and see if I can view a whole new perspective.

First of all, today is my last day off for the week before I go back to my minimum wage job. To be fair, I've been making way more money than when I was doing that food delivery job. The cost of gas far outweighs the actual benefit of the job plus the lack of actual consistent, guaranteed pay as you get paid by commission leads to an overall inconsistent and a race to the bottom sort of feel. Not a fan but I do miss it. The drives at the night. The lonely feel of it all. The music. I really do mean the music. That job had fueled my passion and love for music.

Music is truly my lifeblood through and through. I always was a very strange child when it came to music. Though video game music is rather generic now, back then it was a rather odd pick. Then again, I'm no different with my strange gothic picks. I still view Cocteau Twins as the pinnacle of dramatic beauty especially Lisa Frasier's vocals. If there is one female vocalist I will devoutly respect, its her. Her vocal work is incredible even the song I'm listening to now on my iPod: "The Itchy Glowbo Blow" is an absolute masterpiece. Gorgeous and dreamy like all her work. Including Treasure and Heaven or Las Vegas, they help me picture visions of either abandoned, cobweb filled mansions or dreamy skylines and being under a blur of lights in the strip. I deeply respect her work and will hold it to a personal respect. My memories of listening to some of her work while driving alone in the dead of night, heading home will always be a dream of mine. A comfort. I always have fallen in love with the night.

Besides my lonely obsessions with music, I have been playing Halo 2. Pretty neat experience. Been so long since I've actually played anything proper. It is rather odd how much it takes from specific biblical elements with the vague ideas of prophets and arbiters. Otherwise, its similar to Evangelion. Purely Aesthetic.

The last aspect I've pondered in my mind has been the fact that RockBox is absolute shit. Buggy, trash tier optimization. If anyone is working on the optimization to this program, I would like to wish you to reevaluate on your skills (coming from someone with little to no programming expertise of course :/ ). Constant crashes. Can't play my music. AND THE CONTROLS. Holy fuck. It clearly was NOT designed for the iPod. Let's start with the fact you have to HOLD the skip button to move the track. You might say its easier than the iPodOS's solution but there was clear and precise intent. With iPodOS, you press the select button and then rotate the wheel based on the placement of the track. Then when you're done, you press the select button again and its back to normal. In RockBox, the select button just sends you straight back to the menu. So how do you go forward or rewind?? You HOLD the respective SKIP button. Then it will quickly go to the right time, so you have to pay real close attention and have quick reflexes or you'll either be too early or late and if you press the button again, it will skip the entire track!!! iPodOS was incredibly designed to force interactivity with such a simple task as rewinding and forwarding a track and use the click wheel to its advantage. Terrible design for RockBox all around!

Anyways, sorry to end on such a terrible note but I'd rather just rant about something that has been on my mind for quite sometime. This is just practice. So I hope I can ponder some more!
